On April 18th students, including several from Griffith, left the classroom to attend a Pro-Palestine Protest in King George Square.

The protest provided a stage for leaders of the movement to give passionate speeches and a chance to lobby the Albanese Government to condemn the genocide happening in Gaza.

Islam (Izzy) Qraiqe addresses protestors.

In a speech Griffith Palestinian Student, Islam Qraiqe, recounted experiences of visiting family in Palestine in 2021 and how she and her family had to shelter from Israel attacks. In a brief comment she said she wished Griffith University was more open about discussing Palestinian struggles the same way they speak about Indigenous peoples struggles.

The next student protest will be held on May 2 in King George Square.
