About Me
Hey there, I’m Deborah (De-Bo-Rahhh), I’m in my final year at Griffith University, studying a Bachelor of Business (Majoring in HR) and Bachelor of Public Relations and Communication (Journalism). With a knack for lobbying and a passion for creative writing, I found my voice through the art of PR and journalism. As a dual degree student, I’ve had the chance to explore different areas of interest. But it wasn’t until my last year that I discovered my true calling as an active voice and lobbyist through writing. Inspired by the teachings of the Griffith School of Humanities and Social Science, I’ve come to understand the importance of being a catalyst for change in our communities, tackling local and global issues, and advocating for diverse groups.
Personal Interests
When it comes to communication, I’m all about the art and science of rhetoric. I love dissecting political discourse and how it shapes public opinion. My undergraduate thesis, “Exploring the Rhetorics used by Queensland Politicians in the secondary debate of Voluntary Assisted Dying,” allowed me to dive deep into the persuasive techniques employed by politicians. This research only fuelled my fascination with the art of persuasion, especially in political communication.
Interests In The Club
I’m a dedicated member of the Griffith Journal, where I’ve found a supportive community of fellow journalists and students from various disciplines. This society has been a valuable space for me to grow my writing and creative skills, while also having a blast along the way. Get ready for exciting news, engaging articles, trending topics, and fun activities from me and the rest of the Griffith Journal Society. Welcome to the world of Griffith Journal, where voices are heard and change is made through the power of journalism. Our Campus, Our Stories!
